Liberals Delay Introduction To Teachers Contract Bill

In a surprise move, the McNeil government will not table legislation this morning to impose a contract on teachers.

They were expected to introduce Bill 75, which will impose a contract on teachers they had previously rejected in September.

As students protested outside the Nova Scotia Legislature in Halifax, House leader Michel Samson held a briefing where he says the government is negotiating to get the students back in school.

But Samson wasn’t immediately clear if the government is negotiating with the NSTU.

At this point the house is in recess while discussions take place.
