A pair of local students are off to Ottawa to receive awards for their projects on Canadian history.
Ethan Wah of Bridgewater Elementary School and Evelyn Ferguson of Bluenose Academy are among 26 students to be recognized with the 2015 Young Citizens Award.
They will take part in Canada’s History Youth Forum.
Wah’s project focused on Privateer Captain Alex Godfrey of Liverpool while Ferguson’s project was titled ‘The Little Immigrants.’
An honourable mention went to Obadiah Oickle of Newcombville Elementary School for his project on Scottish Heritage in Nova Scotia.
A panel of judges reviewed roughly 200 videos and voted on their favourites.
The event is scheduled for this fall.
