It will be a special night for the South Shore Lumberjacks organization.
The club hosts their sports celebrity dinner and auction tonight at the Best Western Plus in Cookville.
It will feature Jim Ralph, commentator with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Ralph says he started public speaking engagements after being cut by the Leafs during his playing days as a goaltender.
“The Leafs cut me in August and then asked me to speak at their year opening dinner in September, which wasn’t exactly my favourite invite to get. But, that’s what started it all. It sort of started as a fluke.”
Ralph says speaking in small communities always reminds him of growing up in Sault Ste. Marie and getting the chance to meet new people.
Steve Armitage will emcee the night, which Ralph says is a “feather in his cap.”
The event gets underway at 6:30.
