Lumberjacks Try To Extend Winning Streak in Pictou on Eastlink Television

It’s an exciting time for the South Shore Lumberjacks.

The Junior ‘A’ hockey club sits in a tie for first place in the Maritime Hockey League with the Yarmouth Mariners.

The ‘jacks have also won their last seven in a row and received an honourable mention in the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s top 20 weekly rankings.

Head Coach and General Manager, Kyle MacAllister, says they need to keep momentum going tonight in Pictou.

“We hope it keeps going and people realize it’s not just a fluke. We’re at where we’re at and this team is for real. We have an opportunity here to do something pretty special and we are going to keep pushing at it.”

MacAllister says players are buying into systems and their hard work is beginning to pay off.

“I think that it’s just a feather in the cap to see the national ranking and it’s also something the guys can keep working towards and keep climbing that list. It’s kind of an apple to hang out in front of them to keep chasing it and go from there. I think it’s a great thing not only for the organization but for the community.”

Tonight’s game between the Lumberjacks and Pictou starts at 7 p.m. and will be shown on Eastlink Television.
