The community centre in Lunenburg is set to receive a big upgrade.
The federal government has invested $30,250 to replace the centre’s furnaces.
They are the originals from 1958 when the building first opened.
Recreation Director Robin Scott says the furnaces need to be replaced..
“They are quite old and giving us issues because some of the tubes leak from time to time and are not very efficient, considering they are over 50 years old.”
Scott says the centre is important because it can accommodate more than 150 people.
He says renovations won’t affect the buildings operations and should be complete by the end of summer.
