The Town of Lunenburg is hoping people will pop by the old Academy for a cup of Joe.
A cafe has been part of the redevelopment plan since renovations began.
And the town is now looking for expressions of interest from potential operators.
Mayor Rachel Bailey says the library has already made the Academy a hub, and the addition of a cafe gives people more reason to linger.
“Having a cafe would be just another way to inject some life and activity and wonderful opportunities to meet and to get together and to build community.”
Bailey says the town wants to gain a sense of how much interest there is in operating a cafe before they issue a request for proposals.
“Ideally, we would love to work with an established operator. Someone who’s already in the community or in the local area who, it would be an easy extension to move into the building and offer that kind of service.”
The deadline to submit an expression of interest is June 14.
