Lunenburg Relieving The Pressure Felt By Some Bus Tourists

The only urgency you feel while visiting Lunenburg should be to see the attractions.

But a lack of washrooms is creating stress for some tourists.

Town council is now allowing tour groups to use the Community centre washrooms.

Shelah Allen runs Travel Lunenburg.

She says the centre is a great solution.

“There’s excellent parking at the community centre grounds for a safe parking there. And a quick turnaround which is important. You don’t want to lose people for forty-five minutes while they try to use the washroom facilities.”

Shortage of public facilities is a well-known issue in Lunenburg.

Mayor Rachel Bailey sees this as a workable solution.

“The community centre facility didn’t present itself as a really viable option until the walking tour group pointed out the benefits.”

Busses from Halifax currently stop in Mahone Bay to give tourists a break before they arrive.

With this new access, operators can get tourists off and on the busses quickly, allowing them more time to experience the town.
