Lunenburg Rings In 2016 With The Sweet Smell Of Sewage Treatment Upgrades

Lunenburg is ringing in the new year with a 300-thousand dollar upgrade to the sewage treatment plant.

Staff exposed to hazardous gases coming from the process room, prompted council to take steps to make the workplace more safe.

Mayor Rachel Bailey says they’re at the start of a more permanent solution to the problem.

“It’s underway now. The preliminary stages of that. Hopefully that will be working well in the first half of 2016,” said Bailey.

Council agreed to spend $35,874 for the design of the a new heat recovery ventilator to imporve air quality.

The cost of the entire project is estimated at $287,000.
