‘Lunenburg Sonata’ To Premiere During Saturday Night Concert

A bit of musical history this weekend in Lunenburg.

Renowned Italian composer Ivan Fedele has written a piece of music called the “Lunenburg Sonata.”

It will be performed by oboe soloist Paolo Grazia and pianist Walter Delahunt.

Artistic Director Burt Wathen says it will help open more eyes to the town.

“This piece will be performed all over the world and with the title, people are going to ask ‘What does Lunenburg mean?’ They’ll google Lunenburg and they’ll find out how beautiful Lunenburg is and where it is.”

The piece will premiere Saturday night as part of a concert by the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance.

Wathen has listened to rehearsals and likes what he’s heard.

“It’s a very beautiful piece. It’s very modern. It will challenge some people but our public at LAMP is extremely sophisticated.”

The concert begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets cost $40 and are available at Shop on the Corner or at the door.
