Michelin Safety Week Kicks Into High Gear

An annual event has some new tricks this year.

The 32nd Michelin Safety Week is underway with events for everyone.

A team was at Bluenose Academy earlier this week teaching grade fives basic first aid, CPR and workplace safety.

Matt Roberts is part of the Health and Safety Week Committee and says a tire safety blitz will be held Thursday at the Bridgewater Superstore between 10am and noon.

“We’ll be checking tires in the parking lot for tread depths, air pressure and writing it down on an information card so that vehicle owners will know if their tires need to be replaced or if one’s a little low on air pressure.”

Roberts say those are factors that are key to tire safety and longevity.

He says people shouldn’t overlook the health component of this week.

“People are just more aware of our overall well-being. And the things that we are doing today, the impact that it can have on us in five, ten, twenty years down the road.”

Roberts says the message is getting out.

Registration for the 5k Tire Trot run planned for 9:00am this Saturday is full.

Today’s seniors expo and Friday’s car show are also expected to be well attended.
