An Annapolis County landmark, destroyed by fire a year ago, has been rebuilt and officially re-opened.
Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil joined Milford House representatives and the rest of the community of South Milford for a ceremony over the weekend.
Fundraising, some provincial assistance and community support have led to the rebirth of the Milford House lodge.
Manager Val Richard says staff and community enthusiasm sure paid off.
“Our neighbors have been so helpful. The community hall (next door) has been a lifesaver for us and we modified it a little bit and made it into a dining room and served all our meals from there.”
The resort remained open through all the rebuild and most of its cottages occupied every night during the summer.
Total cost of the rebuild, one million dollars.
