Volunteers Fix Up Gaff Point Trail

A popular hiking trail near Lunenburg recieved some tender loving care over the weekend.

More than 30 volunteers fixed up trouble spots along the trail at Gaff Point.

Work included trimming back tree branches and helping relocate sections of trail that are hazardous.

The event was organized by the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

Coordinator Doug van Hemmeson says it’s important to keep up the trail.

“Wonderful views when you are out there, and lots of natural beauty within so it’s becoming more popular.”

The area is home to a variety of wildlife and has been called an ideal place for bird watching and photography.
