Children are out of the classroom starting today as the Nova Scotia government tries to impose a contract on over 9,300 public school teachers.
MLAs are back at Province House this morning for an emergency sitting.
Education Minister Karen Casey will table proposed legislation today with provincial politicians expected to start debating it on Tuesday.
Until legislation is passed, students will not go to school.
Safety concerns were cited by Casey for the school closures due to a lack of supervision by teachers starting their work-to-rule campaign.
