MODL Hires Beaver Bank Company For Next Installation of LaHave River Septic Systems

Ten more septic systems will be installed along the LaHave River in Lunenburg County.

The Municipality of Lunenburg has authorized Dennis Lively Construction and Backhoe Services to conduct the work to property owners in the Riverport area for $110,000.

The work is part of the LaHave River Straight Pipe Replacement program.

Project Manager Maria Butts says they were able to get 77 systems installed last year.

“This year we’re looking to do a target between 75-100. To see us getting ready to start construction of our first 10 is exciting and really important for the program.”

Butts says location and system type are among the factors when choosing which properties are serviced first.

To date, MODL has received 163 applications for replacement within the wastewater management district.

Federal and provincial grants cover up to two thirds of the cost and all eligible homeowners are required to pay the remaining one third.
