Electronic voting has ended in two Lunenburg County municipalities.
This year was the first time e-voting was offered in the District of Chester and District of Lunenburg.
Almost 4,100 people or 20% of eligible voters in MODL used telephone or internet to choose their next government.
Returning Officer, Leah Zinck, says it’s been beneficial for the public.
“We’ve had a lot of younger people very interested in voting and as well it really services people with disabilities or some who are unable to get out of their home and get to the polling station.”
Zinck admits she was skeptical of e-voting but feels it’s worked out well.
“People have said that both on the phone and by the internet it has been very quick. We’ve had comments coming back from people who are well into their nineties.”
Zinck says there were no glitches or issues.
One thousand, five hundred and seventy people or 19.8% of eligible voters in Chester used phone or internet to vote.
People in the towns of Bridgewater and Shelburne have until 7 p.m. Saturday to vote electronically.
