The District of Lunenburg will soon have a fire services coordinator.
The municipality approved the position in its budget – at a cost of about $40,000.
A person is expected to be in place by the fall.
Mayor Don Downe says they’re filling a need.
“It helps the fire departments in a number of areas…such as efficiency picking up equipment and recruiting volunteers,”
There are 27 fire departments in the municipality.
Downe expects the coordinator will be busy meeting and gathering information from each department.
