With the 2017 parliamentary session opening at the end of the month South Shore-St. Margaret’s MP Bernadette Jordan is getting ready to head back to Ottawa.
She says while she’ll continue to fight to see derelict vessels dealt with, she’s looking forward to focusing on other priorities as well including better healthcare.
“That’s where people want to see money spent,” she says. “They want to see it in mental health and they want to see it in home care. You know, by investing in home care we free up the space in the hospitals which allow our hospitals to be our acute care centres which is what we need.”
Jordan says another priority for 2017 is small craft harbours.
“So critical in this riding. I’m continuing to advocate for funding for better planning for our wharves and wharf space long term.”
Jordan says the month and a half long winter break was put to good use speaking with constituents and preparing for budget submissions.
Parliament is back in session on Jan 30.
