Repair and maintenance is on the way for some small craft harbours along the South Shore.
MP Bernadette Jordan announcing $15.2-million over two years for 16 projects.
They include replacing a deteriorated section of the Kenney Wharf in Clark’s Harbour and constructing a breakwater extension in Dublin Shore.
Jordan says they are necessary upgrades.
“These are for wharves that rely on fishing and they need to be updated, they need to be maintained. There are parts of differents ones that are going to get a good overhaul.”
Other projects are being carried out in Blandford, Lower Sandy Point, Voglers Cove and West Head.
The details are below.
Bear Point – Replacement of a deteriorated portion on the south side of the “T” wharf.
Blandford (Shoal Cove) – Removal and the replacement of a finger wharf.
Clark’s Harbour – Replacement of a deteriorated section of the Kenney wharf.
Cripple Creek – Dredging of the harbour basin and construction of a containment cell.
Dublin Shore – Construction of a breakwater extension.
East Side Port L’Hebert – Reconfiguration of north breakwater and construction of a new south breakwater.
Gunning Cove – Construction of a new breakwater which will form a new basin on the north side of the existing breakwater.
Ingomar (Black Point) – Replacement of deteriorated floating wharves.
Lower Sandy Point – Reconfiguration of the breakwater.
Newellton – Repair and the replacement of a wharf section.
New Harbour – Wharf reconstruction
South Side – Dredging of the basin.
Stoney Island – Construction of a new north breakwater and extension of the south breakwater.
Upper Port La Tour – Extension of the breakwater.
Voglers Cove – Reconstruction of a wharf section.
West Head – Repairs to the ”T” wharf.
