The MP for South Shore – St. Margaret’s says she is excited about last week’s federal budget.
It forecasts a deficit over the next five years and beyond to finance things like a new tax-free monthly child benefit and infrastructure spending.
Bernadette Jordan says it’s part of the government’s committment to improve the lives of Canadians.
“A lot of people said they were lofty promises and that there was no way we were going to be able to deliver on them and we have and I think that speaks volumes, the fact we listened to what Canadians said.”
Jordan expects improvements to rural internet service, a problem plaguing many people in the South Shore.
But, she couldn’t comment yet on other projects in this region that could receive funding.
That includes the Little Tancook Island wharf.
The wharf is over 60 years-old and is deteriorating.
Jordan says she is working to find a resolution.
