Municipality Of Shelburne Identifies Priorities It Would Like RCMP To Focus On

The Municipality of Shelburne has identified drug enforcement, distracted driving and litter enforcement as three key policing priorities for 2018-2019.

Those were identified during a meeting of the Shelburne County East RCMP Advisory Committee early last month.

Cst. Kim Nippard of the Shelburne RCMP detachment says those are also part of their key policing priorities, including drugs.

“Of course we have our local SCEU team here (Street Crime Enforcement Unit), as well as the members that are doing the drug enforcement for the town (of Shelburne), which has been a big concern for the town for a while and that continues for our detachment. Traffic enforcement is certainly always one at the top of our list which of course would involve distracted driving, impaired driving by alcohol and drugs, and ongoing of course. I know there was some concern over litter enforcement and is certainly something that we watch for as we’re making our patrols.”

Cst. Nippard says drugs have been a big concern as well and the Street Crime Enforcement Unit works with regular members in an ongoing effort to address the issue.
