The South Shore Mustangs are getting some extra help behind the bench.
The club has named Shawn Woodworth and Jacob Conrad as assistant coaches for next season.
Woodworth recently stepped down as head coach of the South Shore Major Bantam Lumberjacks after guiding the team to a provincial bronze medal.
He was an assistant or head coach at the major bantam level for five seasons and says he’s familiar with many of the players vying to make next year’s team.
“I’ve known these kids for years, I know what they offer and what they can bring to the table,” says Woodworth.
“Extremely looking forward to it. This is a talented group of kids and I think they have the opportunity to do some special things.”
Conrad, meanwhile, is Mustangs alumni and former captain of the South Shore Lumberjacks.
He is returning home after completing his degree in education from Nipissing University.
The Mustangs finished seventh in the regular season and bowed out of this year’s playoffs in three straight games to the Halifax McDonalds.
