New Fire Engine Arrives In Bridgewater

Everyone is excited about a new vehicle – but what if it came with lights and sirens?

Bridgewater Fire department has just received their new pumper truck.

Chief Michael Nauss says the pumper will become the new “First Out” truck.

“When we get a fire call that would be the first truck that leaves the station to go to that call. They would have all the gear on it to set up to begin to fight a fire.”

Nauss says national safety standards dictate trucks must be replaced every 30 years.

And that the $900,000 purchase was planned well in advance.

Nauss says plans have been in the works for three years and his members are looking forward to using the new truck.

“It’s a long process but very rewarding at the end of the day. I imagine they’re going to be pretty excited to get on it and go to a fire call some day.”

Residents can see it for the first time when it is dedicated next month.
