New Minor Midget Hockey Team Coming To Queens

A team from Queens County will be part of the new Nova Scotia Minor Midget Hockey League.

Hockey Nova Scotia announcing the new seven-team league that will begin its inaugural season in September.

It will be affiliated with the province’s major midget league.

The new league will include other teams from Cape Breton, Truro, Bedford, Cole Harbour, Sackville and Chebucto-Halifax.

Each franchise will play up to 34 games.

The Queens team is eligible to take hockey players from the Chester, South Shore, Queens, Shelburne, Yarmouth, Clare, Western Valley and Acadia minor hockey associations.

To be eligible to play in the league this year, players must be born in 2000 or 2001.

Teams can be made up of 15 and 16-year-olds who are born after September 1.

However, teams can only have a maximum of four 16-year-olds born between January 1 and August 31.
