North Queens Centre Receives Funding For Internet Research

Funding for internet research has been awarded to the North Queens Business Centre and Innovation Hub.

The centre’s ‘Television White Space Project’ was one of 24 chosen across Canada.

The group will test its project as a short-term solution for high speed internet service in wooded or hilly areas.

Mayor Christopher Clarke says it’s a step in the right direction.

“Rural internet service is one of our number one priorities. We’re doing an awful lot of work on it because we’re determined to make progress on this file.”

A grant worth just over $25,000 was provided by the Canadian Internet Registration Authority.

Testing will be done over the next six months with results presented to the CIRA in December.
