The deadline to register for the Nova Scotia 55+ games in Lunenburg County has been extended.
Co-chair Carroll Randall says consultations were held with the games’ society and they advised the local committee that people were looking for additional time.
“We felt comfortable in being able to process it and still put the schedules together that we need for the games. It was kind of a win-win, we said yes we would love to extend it and give people a little bit more time.”
The original deadline of July 28 has been changed to August 11.
There are 25 sports and activity competitions being held from September 13-16 throughout Lunenburg County.
Randall says registration numbers to date are on par with the previous event in 2015.
“The numbers are in and around 600-700 now so we’re feeling quite confident that registration is good.”
More than 150 people from Lunenburg County have registered so far, exceeding the number of local participants from two years ago.
