Good news for Nova Scotians waiting for knee and hip surgeries.
The province is investing $1.9-million for orthopedic surgeries and administrative improvements.
The goal is to reduce wait times in the province, which Health Minister Leo Glavine says are the longest in the country.
This is part of an ongoing strategy, he says, that’s already showing progress.
“We were able to reduce wait times for knee surgery by 14 percent, and we’ve have stabilized the hip replacement [wait] list,” he says
Plans to provide additional surgical theatres are also in the works.
This brings total funding to $8.1-million over the past three years.
