Nova Scotia Power Installing 12 Fast Charging Stations For Electric Vehicles

Nova Scotia Power says electric vehicle drivers will be able to travel from Sydney to Yarmouth without worrying about where they can charge their batteries.

The company announced this week they are installing 12 electric vehicle fast charging stations across the province.

It’s part of a pilot project to study the impact and usage of the network on the electrical system.

The network should be ready by next spring.

Each of the chargers cost roughly $75,000 but are eligible for federal funding which would cover half the price.

NSP is issuing a request for proposals for potential locations to host the charging stations.

The deadline is August 16.

To be eligible, the location for the fast charging station must be within one kilometre of a 100 series highway, 24/7 access and be visible and accessible from the road.

Fast charging will cost $10 per hour, or $2.50 for a 15-minute session.
