Did you prepare for today’s storm ?
Nova Scotia’s Emergency Management Office hopes so.
And with any severe event, they have been reaching out people through the traditional media, Twitter and Facebook.
They also have daily webinars with Environment Canada and municipal EMO’s across the province.
Steve Knowles, the provincial EMO planning officer for the Southern Zone, says they always urge people to prepare for 72 hours.
“The reason for that is that first responders are going to take that long to get to you in a wide-spread event such as this. This has been our stance for a number of years, to be prepared for 72-hours. To have an emergency kit, so have extra cash, to have extra water and so on.”
He says they are asking people to look out for their neighbours especially those who are vulnerable, including the elderly.
