Expect Lengthy Power Outages Due To Storm Says NSP

Nova Scotia Power is warning its customers to be prepared for lengthy power outages as a result of hurricane-force winds caused by today’s storm.

It says damage to its infrastructure will be significant.

The utility has ramped up the biggest pre-storm mobilization of personnel and resources in the company’s history and has pre-staged crews to critical areas.

Tiffany Chase with NSP says restoration many not begin until after the winds drop off .

“Even with the amount of resources that we have available, we’re advising customers to be prepared for lengthy outages. People should expect potential outages throughout the weekend and possibly into early next week for those smaller, isolated and more remote outages that will take us longer to get to.

Chase says they have tasked 1,000 people for storm response and called in crews from Quebec.
