RCMP is reminding people about the importance of buckling up.
Seatbelts have been mandatory in Nova Scotia since 1985.
Despite the law, police handed out over 26-hundred tickets in the province to those not wearing one.
The driver is responsible for ensuring passengers under 16 are wearing a seatbelt.
Children also need to wear one unless they’re under 9 years old or 4 foot 9 tall.
Otherwise they must be buckled into a car or booster seat.
Fines for not wearing a seatbelt start at $180.
