Hubert Dennis Levangie

LEVANGIE, Hubert Dennis – Age 73, of Conquerall Bank. It is with great sadness that the family of Hubert Dennis Levangie, announce his passing on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at home, peacefully surrounded by his family.

Hubert grew up in Lundy, Guysborough County. He cherished his hometown and often spoke of the many wonderful memories he made there “back in the day”. He was a simple man who appreciated the small, simple things in life. His family was his world, and everything he did, he did for them. He was deeply proud to be a father to Amanda and a grandfather to Sophie. Hubert had many close friends, especially from “down home” in Guysborough, whom he held dear to his heart. He loved reminiscing about the “good ol’ days” and sharing his wonderful stories. Hubert had a special way of connecting with people with his loving, sarcastic sense of humor.

He worked for many years as a scallop fisherman, proudly providing for his family. After an injury ended his fishing career in 2007, he went on to work at A&W until his retirement. He was a hardworking man and providing for his family was something he took great pride in. In his later years, Hubert loved being at home, spending time with his family, feeding his wildlife (his wild rabbit the “happy hopper”, squirrels and birds) and sitting with his dog, Jazzy, in their moments of “peace and quiet”.

Hubert was predeceased by his mother, Catherine Vernice Adams; and his grandmother, Sophie Isabel Levangie. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Yvonne Snyder; his daughter, Amanda Levangie (Marcus Whynot); and his granddaughter, Sophie Whynot.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Caldeira: and nurse, Conny Steiniger of the palliative care team. Their care brought comfort and peace during his final days and meant more to our family than words can express. We are deeply grateful for the love and support received during this difficult time. The outpouring of love has been overwhelming. We are so blessed.

A Celebration of Life for Hubert will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or Canadian Red Cross. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
