The family of Mary Dolores Kendall, 71, of Bridgewater, is deeply saddened to announce her passing on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the South Shore Regional Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Three Rock Cove, NL, she was the beloved daughter of the late Augustus and Helen (Retieffe) Woods.
Dolores was a well-known fixture in the Bridgewater community, having spent her career at the Days Inn (formerly the Wandlyn Inn). Over the years, she wore many hats and took great joy in the lifelong friendships she formed with both colleagues and the many clients she served. While she took great pride in her work, her heart belonged to her family—especially her many grandchildren, who were her greatest source of pride and joy.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Cranston) White of Halifax; and her much-loved grandchildren: Tyrell (Alyssa Daly), Trinity (Rylan Daniels), Ray, Anayia Patterson, Destiny, Araceli, Arielle, Amelia, and Amore White. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Kaycee Reeves and Alauni Kendall, the latter of whom was born within the very hour of Dolores passing.
Dolores will be fondly remembered by her sister, Caroline (Alfie) Myra; her brothers, Peter, Ellis (Ruth), Ignatius “Nishie” (Emma), Leonard (Jackie), Murdock, and Patrick “Patty” (Wendy); as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Pearl Karczewski and Marg Duffney, and her brothers, Alfred “Woody” and Clayton.
In keeping with Dolores’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services.
For those wishing to honour her memory, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (Lung Cancer) would be greatly appreciated by the family
