Sharron Joan Haughn

HAUGHN, Sharron Joan – Age 80, of West LaHave. It is with profound sadness that the family announce the passing of Sharron Joan Haughn (Little), on October 7th, 2026, in Bridgewater. A bright light has been extinguished, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sharron was born July 18, 1946 and was the eldest daughter of the late Harold and Florence Little (Morash). Her younger years found her walking with friends to the one-room school, in Auburndale, and then on to Hebbville Consolidated School until grade 9 when the family moved to Toronto, ON. Sharron was never one to sit still. Mom always said if there were something on the ceiling that Sharron wanted, she would find a way to get it. She loved the excitement of city life and worked at various jobs in Toronto, from working in convenience stores, pumping gas, factories and waitressing. She worked alongside her best friend, Gail. They would spend hours laying in the sun and “putting their face on” to go out partying. Sharron moved home to Bridgewater, NS, in the early 70’s, and met her future husband, George.

You couldn’t slow Sharron down, she loved life, people, working at the Wandalyn hotel, going to the gym, playing golf, picking berries, knitting and many other crafts. She loved to bake, make pickles and jams – all of which she generously shared with friends, family, and strangers alike. Sharron enjoyed visits with her daughter, Kim and family in Clarks Harbour, and with son, Kirk and family in Ottawa. She was so very proud of her grandchildren and loved baking treats for them. Sharron loved to travel. There were many trips to the Dominican Republic and Cuba, with her two favourite places being Aruba and Turks & Caicos.

Sadly, Sharron was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, at age 59. She took on the fight of her life from then on but always remained positive. She continued to work as long as she could and turned to playing golf, the gym, lunch with the girls, baking, and anything to stay busy and around with people. Her beautiful gardens were her pride and joy. She could tell you where her shrubs came from and loved to share pictures of them when they bloomed. She always said her gardens were her “happy place” and where she felt the most calm, as the disease took over her body.

At the age of 70, Sharron traveled to Montreal and underwent “Deep Brain Stimulation” which relieved the tremors on one side of her body and gave her back her quality of life for another 5 years, before the disease moved to the other side of her body. The day Sharron had to give up driving her car was one of the saddest days for her and her family because it took away her independence. Sadly her balance became a serious issue and she experienced many falls and broken bones. George became her fulltime caregiver – not an easy thing to take on as Sharron remained as stubborn as always and often forgot she could no longer do all the things that brought her joy. In June she made the difficult move to Ridgewood Assisted Living, in Bridgewater. Sharron’s health continued to decline over the time she was living there, and under the watchful care of the Ridgewood staff.

Sharron is survived by her beloved husband, George; daughter, Kim Ross, Clark’s Harbour; son, Kirk (Natasha) Ottawa; grandchildren, Kurtis, Clark’s Harbour, Corey, AB, Kiara and Gabriel, Ottawa; five great-grandchildren, Clark’s Harbour, one great-grandchild, Grand Prairie, AB; sister, Linda Corkum (Greg), New Cumberland; brothers-in-law, Gary, Leland and Lenard; sister-in-law, Wanda Little, aunts, Honey Langille and Queen Walker, Bridgewater; special niece, Beverly (Mike), Hammonds Plains; and many relatives too numerous to mention. Sharron had many friends, but a special mention goes out to Gail, Diane and Julie. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Craig; and special relatives, Betty-Ann and LeRoy.

A Memorial Service to remember Sharron will be held Monday, October 26, 2026, in Westside United Church, Pentz, at 1 PM, with Rev. Neil McEwen and Rev. Donna Kelly officiating the service. A private burial will be held in Brookside Cemetery, West Dublin, following the service. After the private burial, the family will return to the church hall with maintaining Sharron’s wishes, please join them for a light reception to share condolences and memories of Sharron. It is requested that there be flowers from immediate family only. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Canada, Westside United Church, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.

The family would like to express their sincere Thanks and Gratitude to all the staff at Ridgewood Assisted Living for their exceptional compassionate care they showed to Sharron the entire time she was a resident with them.
