Orphanage Allegations To Be Examined

Nova Scotia’s Opposition Leader is welcoming the just-announced inquiry into alleged abuses at the Home For Colored Children in Dartmouth.

The Progressive Conservatives’ Jamie Baillie says its another chapter in the long healing process for dozens of former residents.

Premier Stephen McNeil announced the inquiry that will examine allegations of physical and sexual abuse from the 1950’s to the 80’s.

With its work beginning in the fall and lasting more than two years, the inquiry will be headed by representatives of the provincial government, the home’s board and African-Nova Scotia community members.
