Park View Captures Western Region Division 1 Boys Hockey Title

The Park View Panthers boys hockey team are provincials bound.

The Panthers blanked the Avon View Avalanche 5-0 Friday afternoon to win the Western Region Division 1 Boys Championship.

Marc Sabean scored twice. Connor Goodick, Morgan MacLean and Evan Hennigar added the other goals while Ben Peveril stopped 15 shots in the win.

Head Coach Grant Johnston says he felt his team could make provincials after competing in the City of Lakes tournament in Dartmouth in early January.

“We knew after we won that tournament after a great weekend there that we could be a contender,” says Johnston.

“This solidifies to our kids and our coaches and everybody who has been involved with Park View hockey this year that we can not only be at provincials this year but be a contender as well.”

Park View will travel to Cape Breton next weekend for provincials, hosted by Glace Bay High School.

Other teams confirmed to be competing include Riverview, Auburn and Citadel.
