Nova Scotia’s Progressive Conservative leader does not support a new deal for the Yarmouth ferry service.
Jamie Baillie says there is no job creation as the crew must be from the United States and transport trucks aren’t allowed on the new vessel.
He believes the Liberal government made a bad deal with Bay Ferries Limited.
“They got hosed through the negotiations and we’re going to pay for this for a generation.”
The province will provide almost $33-million to Bay Ferries over its first two seasons.
Baillie says that number will spike to $100-million once the 10-year contract expires between the two sides.
He wants the deal reviewed in the legislature.
