It’s that time of year – more people are shovelling due to frequent snowfalls.
Community groups in Lunenburg and Queens counties are hoping more people will help seniors.
The “Plowing it Forward” program allows people to snow plow or shovel for a senior or person with disabilities.
Executive Director with Stay at Home Care, Carol Anne Brown, says it’s about lending a helping hand.
She says, “It’s as simple as you finish shovelling your driveway and you have some time, you can go shovel there’s or you can blow out their driveway or just clear their stoop so they can get out and don’t fall.”
Seniors could be at greater risk of falls or heart attacks by shoveling.
Brown says the program increases awareness of the needs of seniors in the community.
