Province Investing In Aging Population

Premier Stephen McNeil has committed $13.6 million dollars over the next three years for aging Nova Scotians.

The government has launched SHIFT: Nova Scotia’s Action Plan for an Aging Population.

The goals include keeping older Nova Scotians involved in their communities and the workforce, as well as promoting active living.

Consultations on the plan were held with individuals and community organizations across the province.

By investing the $13.6 million, the province becomes eligible for $21 million dollars in federal funding to be used for affordable housing.

The Nova Scotia government says by 2030, a quarter of the province will be aged 65 or older.
