The timing made sense for Susan MacLeod to take the next step as a councillor.
The 12 year veteran of the Region of Queens Municipality, MacLeod accepted a nomination from Jack Fancy to be the next deputy mayor.
MacLeod, serving her fourth term, says she wants to get the public more involved.
“Specifically in planning and any major decisions that may come before council that we have to deliberate and make a decision on.”
She says it’s important to get feedback from the public and community stakeholders.
She adds, that would include more town hall and public information meetings.
MacLeod says it’s an honour to be in the role and something she’s thought about for the last few years.
“You know, it’s another option and I have a passion for my community and I thought I’d like to help move our community forward.”
MacLeod will be in the role for two years.
