LIVERPOOL – A complaint of online harassment against two students in Queens County has resulted in a police investigation.
The incident, which occurred in February, was brought forward to the RCMP by a guidance counsellor at a school in Liverpool.
Constable Rob James says the students used the mobile application, Snapchat, to post derogatory comments about the female teacher.
“For reasons as minor as her being a demanding teacher and expecting a lot out of them and that sort of thing, nothing personal,” says James.
“And then using a computer to make pictures of her in a derogatory way.”
James says he spoke to students about their actions and could be bordering on defamatory libel.
“And you know, the consequences both legal and social consequences because it did hurt the teacher’s feelings.”
No charges were laid and James says no other complaints have been reported since.
