A 44-year-old New Ross man is facing several firearms charges after a standoff with police on Sunday.
Police received a call after a man fired a gun in the air at his home on Fraxville Road.

He refused to cooperate with police and remained in his garage with more than 30 firearms.
A woman and four young children were evacuated from the home by police.
Sergeant Mark MacPherson says they had to take precautions.
“We shut the road down, we evacuate nearby homes keeping safety in mind. We have to plan for the worst-case scenario.”
The situation was resolved peacefully after several hours when the man surrendered to police.
He faces charges of careless use of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm.
The man was released from custody and will appear in Bridgewater court on December 21.
