We Fear Our Roads Being Filled With Drivers Who Are High

Canadian highways can be deadly with drunk drivers but lots of us fear drivers high on pot especially as the drug becomes legal next year.

According to a poll released by the Canadian Automobile Association, 63 per cent of Canadians are worried that our roadways will become more dangerous with the legalization of marijuana.

Gary Howard of CAA Atlantic tells us 26 per cent of Canadians between the ages of 18 and 34 think a driver under the influence of pot is either the same or better on the road.

He says there is not any question about this–impaired driving is impaired driving and that includes marijuana.

Howard finds it astonishing that 26 per cent of those surveyed believe they are ok to drive high and could be even a better driver compared to being sober.

He adds it’s frankly not true adding all the scientific research shows any impairment increases the risk of a crash.
