Lunenburg County RCMP are attempting to track down those responsible for a series of boat motor thefts in Northwest Cove, East Chester and Deep Cove. In one incident, a 3.5 meter Zodiac was stolen along with an outboard motor. Motors that have locking mechanisms aren’t being stolen. The RCMP are urging boat owners to put locking devices on their boats and motors to keep them secure. They also suggest you remove the motor from your boat when the craft isn’t being used and dock them in well-lit areas. Police are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in these areas or have knowledge of the items being sold to contact them. Callers can contact any RCMP office, Halifax Regional Police or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS ( 8477 ), texting TIP202 + your message to ‘CRIMES’ (274637) or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca . Calls to Crime Stoppers are not taped or traced and if police make an arrest and lay charges based on a tip, callers qualify for a cash reward from $50 – $2000.
