A Blue Rocks Businessman is turning an idle hobby into donations.
The first annual Nova Scotia Rock skipping competition is being organized by Pleasant Paddling’s Karl Marsters.
He has put together three events including a traditional rock skip, a big rock skip, and a diving skip called the “Rock, Skip Jump”.
Marsters says the diving skip is something they came up with on their tours.
“At high tide we can jump off a cliff. It’s only, like, five feet tall, but it’s enough to get a nice bit of air. And then we promote people to try and skip a rock while they’re in the air just to see what’s going to happen.”
Marsters says there will be slow motion video to help determine the winner.
“This is going to be for charity. This is for the Pro-Kids of Lunenburg. So we’re trying to not be too serious about it, but we feel like there still might be arguments.”
Entry costs between ten and twenty dollars, depending on the number of events entered.
It all happens from Pleasant Paddling in Blue Rocks, Sunday, July 15 beginning at 9:30am.
