Football Nova Scotia’s under-15 team has been named Sport Chek’s team of the month for July.
The team, featuring Logan Taylor of Lunenburg, Ryan Arenburg of Dayspring and Chester’s John Fisher won gold at the 2016 Spalding Cup tournament in Montreal.
Nova Scotia made history by capturing the province’s first ever gold medal at the event, defeating the Montreal Metro by a score of 39-38 in the championship game.
In other local sports, a silver medal showing for Micaela Sabean of Bridgewater and her partner, Victoria Haworth, at the under-22 beach volleyball nationals in Toronto.
