Two dates have been set to resume the Bridgewater-Park View school review process.
But, it didn’t come easy.
Multiple school board members felt the process to make a decision was being rushed.
One of them is Vernon Simms, who stated the board should be seeking a 60 to 90 day extension from the education minister to have lengthy discussions and try to regain public trust.
However, the board voted 6-2 in favour of cancelling their committee of the whole and education session this month to hold the school review meetings.
Simms and Vice-Chair Cheryl Fougere voted against.
Chair Jennifer Naugler says they have to follow provincial policy and make a decision within 30 days.
“We did pause the process but had discussions as a board that we really wanted to see this process through ideally before the end of September, cetainly before the next election.”
The meetings will be held September 14 and 21, with locations to be determined.
Naugler says a decision is expected be made at the second meeting.
