School Board: Transportation Department Wins Gold Award For Eighth Consecutive Year

Another year, another gold award for the South Shore Regional School Board’s transportation department.

This is the eighth consecutive year the department has won the Nova Scotia Pupil Transportation award for a number of safety and performance-related areas.

The department received a score of 197 out of possible 200 points.

Coordinator Denise Crouse says they have set a high standard.

“It reflects the goals of our employees, the training that they received and the pride that they put into their work every day.”

The score is based on things like driver training, accident reporting, bus cleanliness and safety practices. It also includes trip inspection, preventative maintenance and appearance.

The board has 85 drivers that transport almost 6,000 students daily to and from school.
