Second Surgical Suite Not Out Of The Question For South Shore Hospital

A detail was missed in the recent announcement of a million dollar donation to South Shore Regional Hospital.

The money will be used to build a minimally invasive surgical suite.

But in March of last year, the Health Services Foundation announced they would be funding the purchase of two suites.

Site Medical Lead, Dr. Cheryl Pugh, explains a second suite just isn’t in the budget right now.

“Sometimes those estimates are not necessarily as acurate, depending upon what goes into the estimatations. At the end of the day, it funds one suite.”

Pugh is very grateful for the donation and says they plan to build another.

She points out while the suite is being built, infrastructure for the second will be put in place.
