Seven Pre-Primary Sites Operating In The Tri-County Regional School Board

The provincially-run program, free for four year olds, offers a play-based curriculum to help kids prepare for their first year of Primary.

TCRSB Superintendent Paul Ash says they’ve heard nothing but positive things so far.

Ash says they have hired a number of skilled early-childhood educators.

“Some very positive reports back from our principals and we expect that at the end of this year we’ll have some very positive reports back from our Primary teachers and Early Years teachers.”

Ash says they’ve made a request to the Department of Education for several additional Pre-Primary sites in the 2018-2019 school year.

He says the goal is to have the programs in all schools.

Ash says the only schools without space for the program right now are Digby Elementary and Clark’s Harbour Elementary.

The province has made a commitment to expand the Pre-Primary program over the next four years.
