Skate Park Coming To Liverpool By Summer 2016

Skateboarders in Queens county can hardly wait for next summer to arrive.

That’s when a skate park is expected to become a reality in Liverpool near Queens Place Emera Centre.

The Queens Skatepark Association plans to start building in the spring.

Co-chair, Ian Kent, says $550,000 has been committed and they’re hoping the provincial and federal governments get on board.

“We’re hoping with the announcement of us entering our build year that will tweak some interest and we can position our self for some more dollars.”

Fundraising has secured $330,000, along with $200,000 from the Region of Queens while $20,000 is designated for work around the park.

Kent says the park will be between 10,000 and 15,000 square feet.

Once the park is built, it will be owned and operated by the municipality.
